Frequently asked questions

Clear answers on how Saka works for customers, trade professionals, and businesses in Nairobi.

For customers

How does Saka verify local trade professionals in Nairobi?+

Every verified professional on Saka submits a physical Kenyan National Identity Card or Passport and relevant trade credentials (such as EPRA licenses for electricians or NCA certificates). Our Nairobi team reviews these documents before granting verified badge status.

Does Saka charge customers a fee to search or request quotes?+

No. Searching, comparing verified professionals, and sending inquiries on Saka is 100% free for homeowners, tenants, and property managers. You deal directly with the tradesperson.

How are prices determined?+

Trade services have job-specific requirements like materials, scope, and estate distance. Rather than displaying fixed prices, professionals state their starting call-out fee or typical starting price in Kenyan Shillings (KES). After reviewing your inquiry details, they provide a formal quote.

For professionals

Does Saka take a commission cut from my earnings?+

Zero. Saka is built on a direct economic model. We never deduct 15%–30% cuts from your labor fees. You negotiate your pricing directly with the customer and collect payment directly via M-Pesa.

What are the requirements to register as a professional?+

You need an active Kenyan mobile phone number (+254), a valid National ID or Alien ID, and a profile photo. Trade certifications or licenses help you earn the verified badge.

How do inquiries arrive?+

Customers contact you through Saka’s inquiry form with their location, urgency, and job description. You receive notification immediately and chat directly in your Saka inbox.

For businesses

How do businesses manage services and locations on Saka?+

A business account on Saka can add operating branches across Nairobi estates, configure a services catalog, and receive inquiries directed to their team inbox.

What kinds of businesses can register?+

Workshops, automotive garages, salons, hardware suppliers, and licensed contractor agencies operating in the Nairobi metropolitan area.

Account and safety

How does payment work between customer and professional?+

Payment is settled directly between you and the provider, typically via M-Pesa or direct mobile transfer upon mutual inspection of the completed work. Saka does not hold your funds.

What happens if a job has a dispute?+

We encourage clear written agreement in the Saka chat thread where scope and agreed pricing are logged. If an issue occurs, you can report the inquiry to our trust and safety team.

How do reviews work?+

Reviews can only be submitted after a verified inquiry through Saka. We never allow anonymous or unverified reviews, ensuring reputations are honest and earned.
